LaTanya 1:1

In the beginning of LaTanya Phillips’ life, God said, “Let there be light.” God saw LaTanya’s light and deemed it good. From that moment forward, her journey with Jesus began. LaTanya grew up in Los Angeles, California, and stood out for her charm and speed. She was destined for greatness.

Her ministry didn’t begin ten years ago—it began at birth. Even then, evil forces were watching, hoping to stop the prophecy over her life. Her birth was prophetic, taking place at John Wesley Hospital, named after the man who once said, “Set yourself on fire so the world can see you burn.”

At birth, weighing 11 lbs. 9 oz, doctors warned her mother that due to the extended time in the womb and lack of oxygen to the brain, LaTanya was unlikely to survive beyond three days. Nevertheless, her mother—a prayer warrior—prayed the prayer of Hannah, asking God to spare her child’s life and vowing to dedicate her back to Him. And she did. The Lord was faithful and did just what He said He would do.

Raised in a church environment, her mother ensured she would articulate religious teachings, as she often instructed her to “Speak God’s word.” And she did. Teaching LaTanya about Jesus as she traveled to various churches reciting The Creation, Easter poems, and ministering about the children of Israel like Queen Esther, Moses and the Three Hebrew Boys, so much LaTanya thought her head would explode.
Her mother made sure she got plenty of oxygen in the brain. And she did. The mind of Christ.

During LaTanya’s primary school years, her mother rewarded her recital performances with trips to Toys “R” Us. As LaTanya explored the aisles in search of Barbie dolls, Lite Brite, and the Barbie townhouse, her mother selected books for LaTanya to read and music for her to enjoy on her Fisher Price stereo from the endcap displays.

While many kids her age chose to hang out skating and hopscotching, LaTanya chose to hang out at the local library, losing herself in reading children’s books that contained fantasy, adventure and humor.

She loved reading books so much, her mother once told her, “LaTanya, don’t you step foot off this porch.” And in fact she did. Off to the library she went, forged her mother’s autograph to receive her first library card and returned with a grocery bag full of books.

As she grew up, LaTanya became interested in rap/hip hop music. She thought she would become a secular rap artist. I guess she must’ve forgotten the covenant her mother made with the true and living God.

He said he’ll close doors that no man can open. And he did. God did not give her his talents and gifts to advance the Kingdom of darkness but to advance his Kingdom.

my calling

A calling to teach and create

LaTanya’s love for books didn’t stop there. She wanted others to experience that same joy, so she told her mother, “Mama, I want to start my own daycare so I can teach kids about Jesus and introduce them to the joy of books.”

Her mother looked her in the eyes and replied, “LaTanya, teachers don’t get paid enough. You are going to be a nurse. They get paid good money. Don’t go running off starting no daycare.” And she did as her mother said. Still, LaTanya enrolled at Southwest Community College and earned her A.A. degree in Child Development. Yet, within two years of praying and giving, the Lord opened the windows of heaven and poured out a blessing she had no room to receive.

He blessed her with a home where she could expand her daycare—reading, writing her own children’s books, singing, and teaching them about Jesus. Mama joined in on the blessings too. Jesus showed her exactly how much teachers could earn when they put Him first. Truly, only what you do for Christ will last.

A battle for purpose

LaTanya pursued writing despite skeptics, joining SCBWI to sharpen her skills through seminars and books. She began with children’s stories, aiming to write YA fantasy fiction. But her journey soon took an unexpected turn. Then, along came a spider and sat down beside her to frighten her away. That “spider” was her oldest sister—a woman entangled in witchcraft and generational curses passed through their bloodline.

With the Jezebel spirit upon her, conjuring demons on an evil altar, her sister pursued LaTanya just as Saul pursued David. Yet LaTanya had no idea she carried a divine mantle—an anointing placed upon her since birth. And God, being faithful to His word, remained a covenant-keeping God.

Satan doesn’t chase everyone; he targets those who will disrupt his kingdom and set captives free. Her sister’s betrayal tested LaTanya deeply, as darkness tried to sabotage everything she had built. But greater is He that is in her than he that is in the world. Led by the Holy Spirit, LaTanya was trained in the wilderness.

She put on the full armor of God—the helmet of salvation, breastplate of righteousness, belt of truth, shoes of preparation, shield of faith, and sword of the Spirit—to fight not against flesh and blood, but against principalities and powers.

The Birth Of the witch’s brew

LaTanya had no idea her fight in this world, the real magic kingdom, would consist of battling witches and demonic forces and become her first book about her life, “The Witch’s Brew” which became her life story to tell. “And they overcame him with the blood of the Lamb and their testimonies” (Revelation 12:11).

LaTanya began journaling her prophetic dreams, weapons of warfare and encounters, turning them into an adventurous Urban fantasy, enlightening readers about the demonic forces of this world, awakening them to the reality that this world we live in is not the world we see.

Legacy of light

LaTanya loves spending time with her family, enjoying BBQ cookouts, writing stories, and listening to old-school gospel music. Moreover, she finds joy in helping advance the Kingdom of God and bringing a touch of heaven here on earth. She has been married for twenty years to her wonderful and courageous husband, Lionel. He has stood by her side through every chapter of her writing journey, even as they both faced the battles of darkness together. Together, they have a beautiful son, Levi. Though the enemy tried to claim him as an heir to a demonic throne, Levi belongs to Christ Jesus—an heir joined to the throne of God.

LaTanya has been commissioned by God to go out into the world, take the cities as he instructed Joshua through books and music. To proclaim the good news to the poor, bind up the broken hearted, set captives free and release the prisoners from darkness. She has orders to set the cities on fire, creating a LeGaci of Light for conquering nations, bringing salvation, laying foundations and saving generations for Jesus! Set this Kingdom of darkness on fire! And she will!

Frequently asked questions

You will know them by the fruits of their spirits. Jealousy, manipulation, envy, narcissism. Witches are employed by Satan and demons. They work through altars which are legal exchanges. That’s how they get what they want in this world in exchange for witchcraft power to deceive and curse God’s people. First, erect an altar in yourself through Christ Jesus, repenting of your sins, and accepting Jesus as your Lord and personal Savior. Then, if you choose to, erect a physical altar in your home, inviting the Holy Spirit to come in and direct you.

The true and living God will reveal to you those who are witches in your bloodline, family, friends, neighbors, etc. Witches don’t expect God’s children to erect a physical altar in their homes that is righteous to come against the kingdom of darkness and them. Once you erect it, they will know it through monitoring spirits and they will come after you to try and hinder you, but greater is he that is in you than he that is the world.

When I erected an altar in me unknowingly by just reading God’s word, my sister and I began to clash, because an evil altar (spirit) will always come against a righteous altar (spirit). The Holy Spirit called me to erect a physical altar against her. That’s when all hell broke loose. It is my war room.

Train up a child in the way they should go and when they are older, they will not depart from it. Pray over your children, pleading the blood of Jesus over them. Anoint their heads with oil as a protective covering before they leave the house. Anoint your house with oil or Holy water and pray over their bedrooms before they go to bed at night, or once a week or once a month, whichever is best for you.

Teach them about Jesus! He is the only way and the only one who knows about these demons and Satan. Our Father created them, so he knows how to defeat them. My Mama taught me scriptures as a little girl, and I still remember them to this day. They are weapons they will need in this Magic Kingdom we call Earth. I post the Ten Commandments on my son’s wall and a scripture in his game room so he can remember a scripture a month. Get you a bottle of Extra virgin olive oil, pray Psalms 91 over it and any other scripture over it, then pour it into their hair grease so when they oil their heads in the morning they are covered. No other word but God’s word in that Bible is going to protect you or your children from these demonic forces. They fear God’s word.

It is written that we will judge angels. These Celestial legions that have no earthly body do not belong here. Satan goes before heavens throne accusing us daily of our sins, so I take them to heavens court. There is another court system besides the earthly system, which is controlled by the Beast System, that is why justice is hardly ever served for the innocent or certain groups of people. The Harlot (witchcraft) that rides the beast (kingdoms) in the book of Revelation. So, I learned to counter them when they come against me and my children or our neighborhood.

Demons are bullies. They don’t like us. They fear us because we are fearfully and wonderfully created and if we begin to gather as Christ believers and pray, taking authority over our territory, they will start to flee from that area, but because there is not enough prayer in that city, region or community, the demons take over. Our people are in bondage.

I have lived in gang infested areas all my life and I couldn’t understand why it was so. Why was Mama praying so hard, praising and worshipping Jesus in our home. She was making it hot in our territory. Once I began banging back, they got aggravated with me. I told them Christ Jesus for life Cuzz! Blood of Jesus for life, Blood! Witches get stitches! They tried to make me fear them in the realm, but fear is the devil. That’s when I realized they are the scared ones. Now, I fight back and I bang on them. Counter their moves with the word of God and watch what starts to happen. Take them demons to heaven’s court like Paul and Silas did at midnight. They will have to find another territory to bully and take over. If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves, pray and turn from their wicked ways then our Father who is in heaven will hear us, forgive our sins, and he will heal the land. Take authority!

Take them to “Heaven’s Court”. There are certain times for your court dates in the spirit realm. The best times to go are between 12 midnight and 5am. That’s when the veil between the spirit realm and physical realm is thinnest. These demons are real vampires. They want blood sacrifices which is why there is so much killing and bloodshed in the land. The Bible tells us while men slept, the enemy came in a planted tares among the wheat. That’s what they do, come in your dreams to plant destruction so when you wake from a bad dream you think nothing of it instead of praying against it and reversing the curse so it will not manifest in the physical realm. We wrestle not against flesh and blood. Come against the spirit that’s on them.

We are so busy sleeping and slobbering at night. We don’t want to get up and fight for our families. The enemy wants us to be lazy in the spirit so they can defeat us. They want to keep us distracted with noise, partying all the time, and not stayed on Jesus. That’s when they attack. Get Up! Purchase some prayer books and begin to come against them at those times. Set a day out of the week to do so. They want us asleep but stay woke!

Repent! Accept Christ Jesus, be humble. The Holy Spirit will begin to lead and take over. It’s a journey with him. Study his words, meditate on it daily to seek him. Get to know him. He is not a stranger. Recite the sinner’s prayer if you don’t know Christ Jesus and want a relationship with God. It’s not about religion. It’s your relationship with him. He will show you great and wondrous things. That’ where you start.

Say, Heavenly father, I come to you in prayer asking you for the forgiveness of my sins. I confess with my mouth and believe in my heart that Jesus is your son, and he died on the cross at Calvary that I might be forgiven and have eternal life in the Kingdom of Heaven. Father, I believe Jesus rose from the dead, and I ask you right now to come into my life, my heart and be my personal Lord and Savior. I repent of my sins and will worship you all the days of my life! Because your word is truth, I confess with my mouth I am born again and cleansed by the Blood of Jesus! In Jeus Name. Amen.

Find a God-fearing, faith filled church if possible. Study your word and get baptized! In Jesus Name!
